At the first ever “Triangle Ladies Who Tweet” event in September our charity tie-in was a very worthy cause – Abbeygail’s Re-chic Boutique, a partnership with the Women’s Center of Wake County. We asked the ladies in attendance to bring donations of gently-used professional women’s clothing & accessories that would benefit women who are making the transition back into the working world from what often times are difficult circumstances.
Our ladies stepped up to the plate. I had the opportunity to drop off our donations a few weeks later.
At this month’s gathering, we turn our attention to the hungry. While it is true that many organizations focus on the homeless and the hungry during this time of the year, the organizations that service that population usually need THE MOST assistance during the months of November and December.
Therefore, we are asking that each lady in attendance bring a MINIMUM of 4 food items to be collected next Tuesday night. All donations collected will be delivered to the Food Bank of Central and EAst North Carolina. According to their official website the following items are the most needed:
Canned Meals (soups, stews, ravioli, tuna; pop-tops a PLUS!)
Canned fruits & veggies (try to go beyond the green beans and corn, if you can)
Rice, beans, pasta
And don’t forget the babies – infant products are always in demand too (baby formula, baby wipes, diapers, infant cereal, etc.)
Check their website for more suggestions.
Additionally, depending upon the numbers of items donated, I may need some help delivering to the Food Bank. If you can assist, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I thank you in advance any assistance you are willing to give!
That’s it for now. Be looking for an updated post later this week w/ a list of those registered.
Reminder: If you have NOT registered for “Triangle Ladies Who Tweet” yet, you MUST @lisasullivan to consider your registration valid.
