In the early part of 2007, after eight years of being an English/Language Arts educator, I felt it was time to steer my own pathway towards success through my other passion – writing. Although I enjoyed teaching, I had begun to focus on honing my craft as a writer and video producer. I wanted to make a difference using this medium.
I spent two years as a Community Content Liaison for our local NBC affiliate here in Raleigh, WNCN NBC 17. I was part of a ground-breaking project that brought NBC 17 into a whole new dimension of news coverage – MyNC.com. My job was to focus on the community I was charged with engaging in the community, assisting community organizations, non-profits, and individuals in the coverage of their news by teaching them the intricacies of the site thereby bringing them into the world of User Generated Content (UGC), which would in turn translate to broadcast on our evening newscasts.
Through my experience with NBC 17 and MyNC.com, I had the chance to hone my craft as a writer telling stories from a completely different angle as well as utilizing video to further enhance those stories. I bring that expertise along with my background to you.
